MSMEs Udyam Registration

The Udyam Registration Drive is a dedicated initiative aimed at formalising Assam’s vast unorganised MSME base by bringing micro and small enterprises into the national digital registry. Many units across manufacturing, service, and trade sectors operate informally, limiting their access to finance, markets, technology, and government support schemes. This intervention focuses on large-scale awareness, last-mile facilitation, and district-level outreach to ensure that entrepreneurs especially those in rural and remote areas—gain easy access to Udyam registration services.

By formalising 1.5 lakh enterprises, the drive will strengthen Assam’s economic landscape through improved data visibility, easier policy planning, and greater inclusion of women-led, SHG-based, and artisan-driven units in the formal economy. Registered MSMEs will also benefit from credit linkages, subsidies, marketing platforms, and skill development opportunities, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and long-term growth prospects.

Objective

To increase the number of formalized MSMEs in Assam by:

  1. Conducting awareness and outreach campaigns across all 35 districts.
  2. Providing on-site handholding and technical support for Udyam registration.
  3. Ensuring easy registration access even in remote areas through mobile camps and digital facilitation desks.
  4. Linking newly registered MSMEs with schemes for credit, market access, and skill upgradation.
  5. Goal: To create a comprehensive and digitally traceable MSME base in Assam, ensuring inclusion, financial access, and long-term business growth.

Target Beneficiaries

  1. Unregistered Micro and Small Enterprises in manufacturing, service, and trade sectors.
  2. Informal enterprises operating without a business license or Udyam recognition.
  3. Rural entrepreneurs, including artisans, craftspeople, and agricultural-based micro units.
  4. Women-led and SHG-based enterprises seeking to formalize their business activities.
  5. Startups and self-employed youth transitioning from informal to registered business entities.

Outcomes (Qualitative impact):

Significant increase in the number of MSMEs registered on the Udyam Portal.
