Performance Enhancement of Existing MSMEs

The Performance Enhancement of Existing MSMEs initiative aims to strengthen around 10,000 established enterprises across Assam by improving their productivity, operational efficiency, and market competitiveness. The programme provides targeted mentorship from industry experts, exposure visits to successful enterprises, diagnostic assessments, and productivity enhancement workshops to help MSMEs adopt best practices and address performance gaps. By equipping units with modern management approaches, quality standards, and innovation-driven processes, the intervention seeks to build a network of high-performing MSMEs that can serve as champions of efficiency and growth within Assam’s industrial ecosystem.

Objectives

To strengthen 10,000 existing MSMEs across Assam through: 1. Targeted mentorship programs by industry experts and successful entrepreneurs.
2. Exposure visits to model enterprises and industrial hubs (within and outside the state).
3. Productivity and quality enhancement workshops to help MSMEs achieve operational excellence.
4. Benchmarking studies and diagnostic assessments to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
5. Goal: Build a cohort of high-performing MSMEs that can act as champions of efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness within Assam’s industrial ecosystem.

Target Beneficiaries:

Existing MSMEs across manufacturing and service sectors, registered under Udyam.
Enterprises operating for more than 2 years, seeking to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
Priority groups include:
Cluster-based enterprises (bamboo, handloom, food processing, tea value chain).
Women-led MSMEs seeking expansion and modernization.
Export-oriented MSMEs requiring global market exposure

Expected Outcomes:

Improved productivity and operational efficiency among participating MSMEs.
Reduction in production costs and improved quality standards.
Enhanced competitiveness and market linkage at regional and national levels.
Strengthened entrepreneurial confidence and innovation mindset.
Development of local mentor ecosystems for continuous support beyond the program duration.
