Make in Assam Support Centre

The Make in Assam Support Centre is proposed as a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainable growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Assam. The Centre is envisaged as a comprehensive support mechanism that will provide integrated business support, technical assistance, digital services, and institutional facilitation to MSMEs across the State. Through a dedicated State-level MSME portal, the Centre aims to improve access to information, services, and business development support required for enterprise growth and enhanced competitiveness. A key function of the Centre will be to undertake sector-specific need assessment and market assessments for identifying high-potential products, including import substitute products, manufacturing opportunities, export potential, and promising MSMEs and startups. The findings from these studies will be used to facilitate enterprise development through structured interventions such as capacity building, market linkages, certification support, regulatory compliance, and improved access to government schemes and business opportunities. This evidence-based approach will help ensure that support services are aligned with the emerging needs of the MSME sector in Assam. The Centre will also coordinate with certification agencies, testing laboratories, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders to provide certification support to MSMEs in the State. Through institutional partnerships and integrated service delivery, the Centre seeks to improve enterprise preparedness, enhance product quality and support market linkages, and create a conducive environment for promoting manufacturing and enterprise development under the Make in Assam initiative.

Objectives

The primary objective of the Make in Assam Support Centre is to enhance the competitiveness, quality, and market readiness of MSMEs in Assam by providing comprehensive business support and institutional facilitation. The Centre seeks to enable enterprises to improve productivity, comply with quality and regulatory standards, and access new market opportunities through structured interventions and strategic collaborations with relevant institutions.
To achieve this objective, the Centre will undertake sector studies and market assessments to identify products with significant manufacturing and export potential and assess enterprise development needs across sectors. Based on these assessments, it will facilitate certification, standardisation, quality assurance, statutory registrations, and regulatory compliance through partnerships with certification bodies and other relevant institutions. The Centre will also provide access to government schemes, technical services, buyer-seller linkages, and business development support through the Asom Udyog Setu portal.
The Centre will further support entrepreneurship development programmes, capacity-building initiatives, workshops, and awareness activities based on identified sectoral requirements while continuously monitoring the outcomes and impact of RAMP interventions. Through these coordinated efforts, the intervention seeks to strengthen institutional support for MSMEs and improve the effectiveness of enterprise development initiatives across the State.

Manufacturing MSMEs, Artisans, Industrial Associations, Co-operatives, SHGs, Rural Enterprises.

Expected Outcomes:

The proposed intervention is expected to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainable growth of MSMEs in Assam by providing integrated business support, technical assistance, certification facilitation, and market linkages through the Make in Assam Support Centre and the Asom Udyog Setu portal. Improved access to information, government schemes, quality certification, and regulatory compliance services will enhance enterprise productivity, quality standards, and market readiness. The intervention will also promote domestic manufacturing and import substitution by identifying high-potential sectors and products through sector studies and market assessments. This is expected to facilitate the growth of promising MSMEs and startups, improve market access and business opportunities, strengthen the MSME support ecosystem, and contribute to employment generation and industrial development in the State.
