This component is designed to promote awareness of food safety regulations and facilitate the adoption of statutory compliance among MSMEs engaged in food-related activities. Through a structured awareness and facilitation programme, eligible enterprises will be guided in obtaining the FSSAI Basic Licence, an essential requirement for ensuring compliance with prescribed food safety and hygiene standards. The initiative seeks to improve awareness of regulatory obligations while making the registration process more accessible and easier to understand for food-based enterprises. The programme focuses on educating entrepreneurs about food safety requirements, simplifying the licensing process, and providing practical support to eligible enterprises during registration. By strengthening awareness of regulatory compliance and food hygiene standards, the component aims to encourage greater adoption of safe food handling and manufacturing practices across the food processing sector. These efforts are intended to support enterprises in meeting statutory requirements while improving the quality and safety of food products. Greater awareness and adoption of FSSAI licensing are expected to strengthen consumer confidence, improve regulatory compliance, and support the sustainable growth of food-based MSMEs. By promoting compliance with recognised food safety standards, the component contributes to strengthening the credibility and competitiveness of food enterprises operating in Assam.
