Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA)

Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) was launched by the Government of Assam in 2024 to promote self-employment among women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and ensure a minimum annual income of ₹1 lakh.

In the year 2024, the Assam Government launched Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, which is a one of its kind self-employment scheme for women. Assam Rural Livelihood Mission is the implementing agency of this scheme, which works under the Panchayat & Rural Development Department of the Government of Assam. The Government of Assam estimates that around 40 lakh women of Self-Help Groups will get the benefit of Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and become small entrepreneurs.

Objectives

  • “Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan” is aimed to support women SHG (Self Help Group) members to become Rural Micro - Entrepreneurs/ Lakhpati Baideu and facilitate them to earn an annual income of minimum Rs.1.00 Lakh through financial assistance as Grant in-aid in the form of Entrepreneurship Fund.

Benefits

  • In Phase 1 (First Year) :- Seed Capital of Rs. 10,000/- to set up a Business will be provided to Beneficiaries.
  • In Phase 2 (Second Year) :- Business Loan of Rs. 25,000/-. 50% is a Government Subsidy, and 50% is a Bank Loan. Rs. 12,500/- is Non-Refundable, and Rs. 12,500/- will be returned to the Bank.
  • In Phase 3 (Third Year) :- Rs. 50,000/- Assistance if the amount provided in both phases is utilized productively.

Eligibility

  • Active Member She must be an active member of a Self-Help Group (SHG) promoted under ASRLM.
  • Aadhaar-Seeded SBA She must have a valid and operational/active Aadhaar-seeded Savings Bank Account. If not, the account must be opened before applying for the scheme.
  • Not Be a Defaulter She should NOT be a defaulter of the SHG of which she is a member, Federations, Banks, Financial Institutions etc. Those who have availed a loan from micro-finance institution before 2021 will not be deemed a defaulter.
  • Business Plan She should have a Business Plan for her activity/enterprise.
  • Activity She must be involved in minimum one income generating activity on her own.
  • Children Criteria She should not have more than three children, in case of General/ OBC category and four children in case of ST/SC/Tea Tribes/ Moran & Matak Category.
  • Sankalp Patra The SHG member will have to submit a Sankalp Patra committing to restricting the number of children to two, if at present she has 0-2 children; three numbers of children, if she belongs to General/OBC category and four numbers of children, if she belongs to ST/SC/Moran/Matak/Tea Tribes community.
  • Education If the SHG member has girl child(ren) of school going age, then the girl child(ren) should be admitted in a school. She will also have to sign the Sankalp Patra pledging to do the same in future.
  • Amrit Brikshya Andolan The SHG member has planted the sapling during Amrit Brikshya Andolan and the sapling(s) should be surviving and growing. If not surviving, new saplings are to be planted in place of that during the time of filing up the form or before submission of the form.

How to Apply?

Mukhymantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan Application Form is available in the Panchayat Office in Rural Area and in Municipal Corporation/ Board Office in Urban Area.

Women Beneficiaries will have to collect the Application Form, which is free of cost.

Fill it correctly and attach all the required documents with it.

Submit the Application Form with all the documents in the same panchayat and municipal corporation/ board office.

Officials from the above-mentioned offices will verify the application form initially and forward further to the respective department for final approval.

Eligible and Selected Women Beneficiary will get seed capital of Rs. 10,000/- directly in her bank account for setting up business and thereafter the subsidized loan of Rs. 25,000/-.
