Organic fertilizers and vermicompost are widely used in sustainable and organic farming systems to improve soil health and nutrient content. In Assam, the availability of agricultural residues, organic waste, and favourable climatic conditions provide strong opportunities for establishing vermicomposting and organic fertilizer production units. The increasing demand for organic food products in domestic and international markets has also increased the demand for organic farming inputs such as vermicompost and bio-fertilizers. Fiscal incentives such as subsidies for organic farming inputs, financial assistance for agro based enterprises, and credit support for MSMEs can encourage investment in this sector. Non fiscal support including training programs, technical guidance, research support, certification for organic products, and improved distribution networks can further strengthen the organic fertilizer industry.
