Wheat

Wheat is cultivated on a limited scale in Assam, mainly as a rabi crop. It supports local flour mills, bakeries, and urban food consumption.

In Assam, wheat is grown primarily as a rabi crop in selected pockets with suitable soil and irrigation facilities. Though not a dominant cereal like rice, wheat supports local atta mills, bakeries, and food processing units. The demand for wheat based products creates opportunities for storage, milling, packaging, and distribution MSMEs, especially to meet urban and institutional consumption.
