Bamboo based construction materials in Assam include boards, beams, flooring, wall panels, and prefabricated building elements produced through treatment, lamination, and hot pressing. These materials are lightweight, termite resistant, moisture tolerant, and suitable for eco friendly infrastructure and housing. The sector strengthens rural livelihoods and promotes bamboo as a renewable construction resource. From a fiscal perspective, products attract applicable GST, while exports are zero-rated, allowing tax refunds and RoDTEP benefits; imports of presses, treatment plants, and CNC equipment may attract customs duty with possible MSME and green building incentives. On the non fiscal side, products must comply with BIS structural standards, fire safety, durability norms, and labeling requirements.
